With the legal sale of adult-use cannabis expected to begin within a few months, the state is getting ahead of potential health and safety concerns with a campaign about safe consumption.
Gov. Ned Lamont announced today the launch of an education campaign aimed to “promote responsible cannabis use by adults,” according to the state. The campaign contains a collection of information about how people can safely store and dispose of cannabis and cannabis waste and what to do if someone accidentally ingests cannabis.
Per the state, the resources included in the campaign were created by the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection in collaboration with Connecticut Department of Public Health and Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services.
Videos, brochures, flyers, and social media graphics included in the campaign are available online at ct.gov/cannabis.
The Department of Consumer Protection said it plans on adding more content to the campaign that concern other health and safety topics related to cannabis in the future. Further, the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services will launch a multimedia campaign this fall to educate the public about state laws related to cannabis.
