Connecticut has received a $1.9 million settlement with Florida mortgage service provider Lender Processing Services, Inc. over allegations of robo-signing mortgage-related documents.
LPS settled for $120 million with 45 states and Washington, D.C. over its practices handling defaulted loans, foreclosure, and bankruptcy.
Connecticut had alleged LPS’ documents contained unauthorized signatures, improper notarizations, inaccurate information and effectice dates. Attorney General George Jepsen estimates LPS’s practices impacted thousands of documents in 2009 and 2010 in the state.
In addition to the settlement, LPS agreed to review the documents executed in the questionable time period to see if they need to be corrected.
