The state’s Department of Labor collected $6.6 million in unpaid wages in the fiscal year ended June 30, officials announced.
It’s approximately $20,000 more than the amount recovered in the previous fiscal year by the DOL’s Division of Wages and Workplace Standards.
The division ordered payments by employers who had not paid the required minimum wage or overtime and those that had paid incorrect amounts.
As many as 4,754 workers received recovered funds.
DOL said it also recovered $525,000 from 70 employers arrested for collecting unemployment benefits to which they were not entitled. The agency partnered with the Office of the Chief’s State’s Attorney a year ago on that effort.
