Gov. M. Jodi Rell today announced the retirement of Department of Labor Commissioner Patricia H. Mayfield, effective Feb. 1.
A lifelong Waterbury resident, Mayfield retired from state service in 2003 but came out of retirement at Rell’s request in May 2006 to run the state labor agency, first as interim commissioner.
Deputy Commissioner Linda L. Agnew will serve as acting commissioner, Rell said.
