CT investing $2.6M in Middletown riverfront development

Middletown’s plans to redevelop parts of its riverfront land on the Connecticut River will benefit from $2.6 million in state funds, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy’s office announced Monday.

Most of the money will go to environmental assessment, remediation and cleanup, while another $310,000 will be used to design a boathouse and event facility.

A city committee’s plans for the riverfront also include a 1.5-mile bike path from Harbor Park to the intersection of River Road and Silver Street and an enhanced entrance for boaters and kayakers at the park.
