CT inks economic agreement with Israeli tech nonprofit

The state Department of Economic and Community Development has signed an agreement with an Israeli nonprofit that officials hope will lead to deeper partnerships with companies in Israel, Gov. Dannel Malloy announced.

Under the memorandum of understanding, DECD will work with the Israel Tech Transfer Organization (ITTN), which is affiliated with Israeli universities, to match Connecticut and Israeli firms for research, manufacturing and clinical partnerships.

The agreement was signed during a trade mission to Israel earlier this month. Malloy revealed the deal Wednesday morning at an event held by the MetroHartford Alliance, which has worked to strengthen Connecticut-Israel ties.

Amir Naiberg, co-chairman of ITTN, said in a statement that startups spun out of Israeli universities are looking for a “soft landing” in the U.S., as well as connections to potential partners, investors and customers.
