CT housing permits slide in February

New home construction in Connecticut hit a wall in February, as new housing permits issued during the month fell by 41 percent, state figures show.

Connecticut municipalities issued 105 new housing permits in February, compared to 179 in year-ago period.

With the new housing units authorized in February, the year-to-date total reached 220 units, putting Connecticut well behind last year’s new home construction pace by nearly 35 percent, according to data released Thursday by the state Department of Economic and Community Development.

Permits are issued for single-family houses, condominiums and apartment units.
