Connecticut lawmakers are back on the job.
The House of Representatives is scheduled to meet at 3 p.m. today and begin voting on several bills that spell out details of the two-year, $37.6 billion budget the General Assembly approved Sept. 1 after a months-long impasse with Gov. M. Jodi Rell.
Lawmakers also need to vote on state bonding legislation and a plan to reduce the number of probate courts from 117 to 50.
The Senate is scheduled to vote on the bills Thursday. The House may meet Thursday, if necessary.
Republican lawmakers are calling on majority Democrats to make some last-minute changes to the budget, such as putting a hold on unfunded programs cities and towns are now required to provide. (AP)
