CT hotel operator takes over Marriott properties in Baltimore in geographic expansion

Waterford Hotel Group has added two hotels near Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport to its management portfolio, marking the company’s first move into the Baltimore market.

The Connecticut-based hospitality firm is now overseeing the 142-room Aloft Arundel Mills BWI Airport and the 147-room Element Arundel Mills BWI Airport. The hotels are located within the Arundel Mills entertainment and shopping district, near the airport and close to major highways.

“Managing both Aloft and Element at Arundel Mills allows Waterford to bring fresh energy, operational expertise, and a guest-first approach to a unique dual-brand platform,” said Michael Heaton, president of Waterford Hotel Group.

Aloft includes loft-style rooms, a lobby bar, 24-hour market and flexible meeting space. The Element hotel offers extended-stay amenities such as kitchenettes, a fitness center and an indoor saline pool.
