The Connecticut Hospital Association has elected Jeff Flaks, president and CEO of Hartford HealthCare, as the next chair of its board of trustees.
Flaks takes on the role of board chair after serving as vice chair. He succeeds Patrick Charmel, president and CEO of Griffin Health, who becomes the board’s immediate past chair.
Kathleen Silard, president and CEO of Stamford Health, was elected vice chair and secretary. Each of the officers serves a two-year term.
The announcements were made June 11 during the CHA’s 2026 Annual Meeting, during which hospital leaders from across the state met to discuss healthcare policy, advocacy and community initiatives and presented industry awards.
The CHA’s Board of Trustees is responsible for setting the organization’s strategic direction and legislative priorities. The board is composed of executives from Connecticut hospitals and health systems.
CHA CEO Jennifer Jackson said Flaks has been a key advocate for hospitals during a period marked by major changes in healthcare policy and financing, including revisions to the state’s hospital tax structure.
The CHA’s annual meeting also highlighted community health initiatives and honored healthcare workers from hospitals across the state.
