CT home builders associations merge to form regional organization

Two Connecticut home builders associations have merged to create a single regional organization representing the residential construction industry across six counties.

The Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Eastern Connecticut and the Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Central Connecticut completed their merger Monday, forming the Home Builders & Remodelers Association of the Connecticut River Region, according to an announcement.

The newly combined organization will represent more than 500 member companies across Windham, Tolland, New London, New Haven, Middlesex and Hartford counties. The merger takes effect immediately, with members from both legacy associations automatically transferring to the new entity.

Eric Person, executive officer of the merged association, said the consolidation will give the groups a stronger voice as they advocate for the industry.

“By aligning our strengths, we’re creating a dynamic, future-focused association that’s better equipped to support our members and address the challenges facing the home building industry,” Person said.

The combined organization plans to expand member services, coordinate advocacy efforts and increase community outreach measures.

The new association will focus on advocacy at local, state and federal levels, addressing housing policy, permitting procedures and building code regulations. The organization also coordinates charitable projects and promotes skilled trades careers.

Patrick Caulkins, chairman of the former Eastern Connecticut group, said the merger combines “decades of expertise and advocacy” to better serve members and communities.

A new brand identity and website for the Home Builders & Remodelers Association of the Connecticut River Region will launch in the next few weeks.

The merged entity operates as a not-for-profit trade association and maintains affiliations with the National Association of Home Builders and the Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Connecticut.
