CT holds annual veterans’ services event

Connecticut is holding its annual ‘‘Stand Down’’ event to link military veterans with services to help them in civilian life, The Associated Press reports.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman are among those planning to meet with the veterans Friday at the Connecticut State Veterans Home in Rocky Hill.

The state Department of Veterans’ Affairs Commissioner Linda Schwartz is also planning be there. The state agency says it expects about 1,000 veterans from around the state to take part.

The event links veterans with health and wellness services, job placement and workforce training support, and information on state and federal benefits.
