A Stamford tech firm that is developing a search engine to plumb email, files and specific sets of public data on the Internet received a $1.6 million private equity infusion, including another half million dollars from the state’s technology investment arm.
ExeCue Inc. received $550,000 to go with the $1 million Connecticut Innovations Inc. put into the company in July 2008, the state said Tuesday.
ExeCue has developed a search platform that helps business and Internet users retrieve data. Its site, www.semantifi.com, showcases the engine’s capabilities for accessing federal securities, banking and census filings, plus data on government spending, U.S. economic metrics, state and federal budget earmarks and federal aid.
“Google, Bing and others already do a great job of searching Web pages, but do not search datasets. Semantifi.com is looking to complement current search by providing information from datasets as well,” said Shree Pragada, ExeCue founder and CEO.
CI has two seats on ExeCue’s board.
