The head of Access Health CT, Connecticut’s health insurance exchange, said today that the organization is prepared to start enrolling residents Oct. 1.
Kevin Counihan said in a statement that the exchange’s call center is already taking questions from consumers, and that broker, navigators and others will be ready 12 days from now to walk people through the enrollment process.
“We’ve said consistently that there will be bumps in the road, but we believe we are as well positioned as any state to help consumers find quality, affordable health plan coverage,” Counihan said.
While the exchange may feel prepared, the health plans included in it have had some trouble solidifying their networks of hospitals and doctors, largely due to concerns over reimbursement rates.
The makeup of those networks could be key to the success of the exchange’s plan offerings.
