Connecticut Healthcare Advocate Victoria Veltri said her agency generated $9.1 million in savings for healthcare consumers during the 2012 fiscal year.
The savings figure represents the costs of healthcare services, procedures and claims that would have been borne directly by consumers of healthcare had her agency not intervened.
Veltri said her office received nearly 9,000 calls and handled nearly 6,000 cases during the 12-month period with an 85 percent success rate on appeals.
