CT has $33M for struggling homeowners

Connecticut homeowner counseling agencies are taking applications for a $33 million pool to help distressed borrowers from losing their homes.

In the Hartford area, five nonprofit agencies will be involved in distributing the federal aid from the Housing and Urban Development and available through the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority.

The CHFA-HUD approved counseling agencies serving homeowners throughout Greater Hartford area include:

Community Renewal Team (CRT), 395 Wethersfield Avenue, Hartford, CT 06114, 860-560-5881, hours:  Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm;

Housing Education Resource Center, 901 Wethersfield Avenue, Hartford, CT  06114, 860-296-4242 ext. 107, hours: Monday to Friday 9:00 to 5:00;

Urban League of Greater Hartford, 120 Woodland Street, Hartford, CT  06105, 860-527-0147 ext. 168, hours: Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

In addition, CHFA will host an EHLP Housing Fair on Saturday from  9  to noon at the Legislative Office Building, 300 Capitol Avenue, Hartford.
