Fairfield gunmaker Sturm, Ruger & Co. Inc. has won one of the gun industry’s top quality awards for its products.
The Shooting Industry Academy of Excellence named its 9-millimeter Ruger LC9 the “2011 Handgun of the Year” for an unprecedented fourth year in a row, the company said.
In addition, its 30-caliber Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle received the “Rifle of the Year” honor at a recent shooting-industry awards ceremony at Park City, Ky.
The rifle honor was particularly poignant, Ruger officials say, because it was one of the last weapons from renowned gun designer Roy Melcher, who succumbed to cancer last December.
