Two Connecticut communities were awarded $1.7 million in grants from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Sustainable Communities program.
Stamford received $1.1 million to help development a $600 million expansion of the Stamford Hospital campus and aid the adjacent health and wellness district.
Mansfield received $610,596 to proactively plan for anticipating community growth by maintaining the town’s rural character while still providing access to jobs and housing.
HUD awarded $97 million of its Sustainable Communities grants nationwide. The goal of the program is to help communities and regions improve their economic competitiveness through housing, jobs, schools and transportation.
