CT foreclosure inventory fell in May

The percentage of mortgaged Connecticut homes in foreclosure declined in May, according to real estate tracker CoreLogic.

Of all mortgaged homes in the state, 2.8 percent were in foreclosure in May, down from 2.9 percent in April and from 4.1 percent a year ago.

Though foreclosure inventory is shrinking, completed foreclosures are up over the past year. From May 2013 to May 2014, 5,748 foreclosures had been completed. Between May 2012 and May 2013, 3,649 had been completed.

Connecticut’s “serious delinquency” rate has fallen a full percentage point over the past year, to 5.9 percent in May. The definition of serious delinquency varies by servicer, but generally means 90 days or more past due.
