CT expensive for teen drivers

When an adult adds a teen driver to his insurance policy in Connecticut, the average insurance premium increase is the fifth highest in the country, according to the website InsuranceQuotes.com.

The average premium increase in Connecticut is 102.4 percent. Three other New England states — New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Maine — top the list.

The average premium in New Hampshire increased by 111 percent when a teenager was added to an adult’s policy.

The averages, calculated by Quadrant Information Services, are based on married and employed 45-year-old males and females who drive 12,000 miles per year with coverage limits of $100,000 for injury liability, $300,000 for all injuries and a $500 deductible on collision and comprehensive coverage.
