CT energy credit meeting postponed

Connecticut’s electric utilities have delayed their Nov. 5 explanatory meeting with stakeholders about the state’s renewable energy credit program.

Berlin-based Connecticut Light & Power and New Haven-based United Illuminating were set to meet with potential developers for renewable energy installations of less than 100 kilowatts on Nov. 5 in Berlin, but the utilities postponed the meeting while they focus on power restoration from Hurricane Sandy.

The meeting will cover the price per renewable energy credit under the state’s Zero Emissions Renewable Energy Credit, or ZREC, program, as well as how developers can apply. The utilities have $2.7 million available annually to award in 15-year contracts, and the money will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.

The meeting tentatively has been rescheduled for Nov. 12, but the date is subject to change based on the restoration.
