CT electric companies teach teachers

In an effort to focus on the importance of the science, technology, engineering and math curriculum in Connecticut schools, two Connecticut electric companies hosted a pair of state teachers this summer.

To boost the development of the future high-tech workforce, Fairfield conglomerate General Electric and Hartford-based Northeast Utilities taught the teachers about various aspects of the companies and the importance of the STEM curriculum in maintaining their production.

General Electric hosted New Britain High School math teacher Shane Clark at its Plainville facility, where engineers are designing electric vehicle charging stations.

Northeast Utilities hosted Wilby High School math teacher Elizabeth Clinton at its Berlin headquarters so she could learn about all aspects of the utility industry.
