A Stamford firm that ranks states and cities on their economic strength said Connecticut had the fifth-steepest annual decline in the country in December.
The state’s so-called Diver Geo score fell 1.2 points since last December, from 7.6 to 6.4, according to Lumesis, which issues monthly rankings based mainly on employment, housing and income. The rankings employ a scale of zero (worst) to 10 (best).
Connecticut’s score ranks it 19th in the country, down from 13th a year ago. However, the scores can fluctuate. The state was in the top 10 in September before falling out in October, according to Lumesis.
