Watertown’s All-Star Driver is reaching out to retirees and recent college grads to fill openings for more than 35 full- and part-time driving instructors and administrators in its expanding operation. Its need is greatest in central Connecticut and Fairfield County.
Billing itself as the state’s and nation’s largest driving school, All-Star announced Monday it will host an Oct. 4 job fair from 2 to 7 p.m. at its Monroe office at 601 Main St.
All-Star said it is particularly interested in retired teachers and state workers, and recent college graduates with education degrees to fulfill Connecticut’s mandate that all 16- and 17-year-olds receive tutoring from qualified driving instructors before being licensed to drive.
The school said it needs full-time instructors for Fairfield County, where it recently inked a new drivers’ instruction pact with the Norwalk Public School district, and part-time weekend instructors for Avon, Hamden and Watertown.
It also needs office staff, including billing clerks and others.
All-Star Driver has 68 offices throughout the state and will train an estimated 10,000 drivers this year and another 12,000 next year, a spokeswoman said Tuesday.
In September 2011, All-Star bought Top Driver’s five Connecticut offices.
