RMS Cos., a prominent statewide developer of apartment buildings and hotels, has bought a 2.33-acre parcel in Stamford that is already approved for a 27-townhouse building for $3.1 million.
The company, which is headquartered at 148 Broad St. – in the same building as the eight-story, 228-unit The Asher apartment building – has bought the property from Fairfield attorney Raymond Rizio, according to the city’s land records and confirmed by Rizio.
RMS bought the property under the name RMS 91 Hope Street LLC, while Rizio sold it under the name 91 Hope Street LLC.
RMS declined to comment.
The city’s zoning board in 2024 approved plans by Rizio to demolish a 6,400-square-foot commercial building and accessory garage to make way for the four-story apartment building. A 2,700-square-foot single-family home on the property will also serve as a rentable unit, according to the plans.
Each townhouse – three of which will be below-market-rate units, per city regulations – will have three bedrooms, 2.5 baths and two-car garages.
The property, which was previously owned by the Diocese of Bridgeport and last served as the Haitian American Catholic Center, is appraised at $3.51 million and assessed at $2.46 million, property records state.
RMS is also building a 280-unit apartment building on the former site of Burlington Coat Factory in downtown Stamford.
