CT Dem director to head consumer protection

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy said he will appoint a Connecticut Democratic Party leader as the next commissioner of the Department of Consumer Protection.

Jonathan A. Harris was most recently executive director of the state party, a position he took in 2012 after a year of serving as deputy treasurer in the Office of the State Treasurer.

Prior to that, he served three terms as a state senator and was also mayor of West Hartford.

Harris succeeds William Rubenstein, who is retiring this month after three years heading DCP.
