Mattress maker Simmons Bedding will get $8 million to relocate its production operations and about 200 new or existing jobs from Springfield/Agawam to Windsor Locks, authorities say.
National Bedding Co., major owner of Simmons Bedding LLC, agreed to a 10-year, $8 million state loan to do the move. No specific move date was given.
If it stays put two straight years, National would only be on the hook to repay $5 million, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy said Monday.
Malloy chairs the State Bond Commission, which must formally approve the loan through the state Department of Economic and Community Development.
The loan will fund leasehold improvements and new machinery and equjipment for its space140 Old County Circle, officials said.
