The world’s second best selling rum will made its debut in Connecticut in August, entering the northeastern U.S. market through an Avon firm and a New Haven distributor, the distiller announced.
Tanduay Distillers, a Philippine company, makes the world’s No. 2 selling run, behind Bacardi, but always has been wary about entering the U.S. market because of Barcardi’s popularity.
In July, Tanduay made its American debut in Miami with its two best selling products – Tanduay Silver Asian Rum and Tanduay Gold Asian Rum.
The rum expanded to Connecticut in August through New Haven distributor Brescome Barton and made its brand debut in the Northeast supported by Avon-based Brand Action Team.
Brand Action Team is offering tastings in bars, restaurants, and package stores, along with showcasing the rum at various high-profile music events. The two rums will retail for $19.99. Tanduay also hired a local mixologist to create rum drink recipes for the Connecticut palate.
