Connecticut consumers’ feelings about the state’s economic and employment conditions are not trending strongly in either direction, according to the latest quarterly confidence survey by InformCT.
The first-quarter survey of 505 residents found that, since the fourth quarter, a greater number felt that conditions had improved over the past six months ago (21 percent, up from 16 percent), but the sentiments were similar to the 2017 first-quarter survey results.
Meanwhile, 24 percent believe the state’s economy is improving, while 45 percent disagree. A year ago, that split was 29-44.
InformCT noted that more consumers in the state are reluctant to make major purchases, which is a trend that has taken hold for three consecutive quarters. More than 50 percent said they were very unlikely to purchase a car in the next six months — the highest portion in more than a year.
