Momentum is building to have all state agencies post their rules and regulations online, The Associated Press reports.
Stephen Nevas, a Westport attorney and chairman of the media and law committee of the Connecticut Bar Association, told a legislative committee on Monday that current rules that date to 1970 only require departments to have the regulations available for inspection in their offices.
Nevas told the legislative Government Administration & Elections Committee that Internet postings of rules should have been standard practice years ago. He says under current practices, outdated rules are sometimes applied.
The Connecticut Post reports that legislators appeared receptive.
Democratic Rep. Tim O’Brien of New Britain said requiring online rules postings is long overdue.
Others expressed concern over a possibly time-consuming and cumbersome process.
