A Taiwanese technology firm is giving $1 million to the University of New Haven to train Asian police officers at the school’s Henry C. Lee Institute of Forensic Science, the school said Monday.
Wintek Corp. Chairman Hyley H. Huang said advanced training for one officer each from Taiwan and China for up to six months annually will improve safety and security in communities in both countries where Wintek has operations.
Lee himself, a renowned forensic investigator who once worked for the state of Connecticut, will teach a class in advanced forensic technology this fall at the university.
He and his colleagues will recommend to the Asian officer trainees appropriate conferences, as well as coursework on such topics as cold case investigation, advanced forensic technology, crime scene reconstruction and crime incident analysis.
