CT climbs in clean technology ranking

Connecticut has improved by two spots, to sixth place, in an annual index of clean energy and technology activity.

Connecticut scored a 58.7 on a 100-point scale in the latest index, released this month by Clean Edge Inc. The state was behind only New York, Oregon, Vermont, Massachusetts, and California — which has taken first place every year since the index was launched eight years ago.

The index takes many variables into account, including energy efficiency spending per capita, renewables mandates and policies, utility-scale clean energy generation, and clean energy patents and employment.

Connecticut’s score improved due to 2015 carbon emissions levels, relatively low energy consumption per capita, among other factors, according to Clean Edge.
