CT citizens see 1Q personal income climb

Connecticut’s personal income rose in the first quarter from the fourth quarter and from a year earlier, federal Census Bureau data shows.

Total income for the state’s residents totaled $205.5 billion in the first three months of the year, up 2. 4 percent from $201.6 billion earned in the final three months of 2010, the agency’s Bureau of Economic Analysis reported Wednesday.

Connecticut citizens’ first-quarter earnings also improved 0.5 percent from the $196.2 billion they took in during the first quarter of 2010, the BEA said.

Across the U.S., state personal income growth accelerated to 1.8 percent in the first quarter of 2011, from 0.8 percent in the fourth quarter of 2010, BEA said.

Personal income increased in all states, with growth ranging from 0.7 percent in Iowa to 6.9 percent in North Dakota.

 Inflation, as measured by the national price index for personal consumption expenditures, increased to 0.9 percent in the first quarter from 0.4 percent in the fourth quarter of 2010.
