Chrysler LLC filed a motion today with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New York to eliminate 789 of its U.S. 3,200 dealerships, saying that the network is antiquated and has too many stores competing with each other.
The company said many of the dealers’ sales are too low. Just over 50 percent of the dealers account for about 90 percent of the company’s U.S. sales, the motion said.
The motion includes seven dealerships in Connecticut:
— Amaral Motors, Newtown. Principal owner: Daniel Amaral
— Country Motors, DBA Bob’s Dodge, Naugatuck. Principal owner: Ronald Capasso
— Crest Dodge, Woodbridge. Principal owner: Richard Fitzpatrick Jr.
— Edward J. Wilson’s Sons, Torrington. Principal owner: Jeffrey Wilson
— Enfield Chrysler Plymouth, Enfield. Principal owner: Dana W. Miller
— Falvey’s Inc., New London. Principal owner: Timothy D. Falvey
— Holley Chrysler Dodge Jeep, Middletown. Principal owner: Robert G Holley
