Connecticut Children’s Medical Center is opening a new special education facility in New Britain that will provide intervention for children with severe emotional, behavioral, cognitive and/or learning problems.
The new facility replaces CCMC’s older special education facility in Wethersfield. It’s New Britain facility is located at 300 John Downey Dr.
The CCMC School currently has 125 students referred from 32 public schools throughout the state, with capacity for 175 total students.
The goal of the school is to foster the development of independence in social, emotional, behavioral, and academic skills so that students may be transitioned back to their home school district.
