Connecticut Children’s on Tuesday landed its second $1 million philanthropic commitment in less than two months, with North Haven businessman Frank Ferrucci and his family pledging $1 million to support the pediatric health system’s expansion efforts.
The gift will help fund Connecticut Children’s new eight-story, $326 million clinical tower and the organization’s “100% Campaign,” which supports the expansion of pediatric facilities and services across the region.
In recognition of the donation, a wellness room in the tower will be named the Ferrucci Family Wellness Room, health system officials said.
The latest commitment follows a $1 million gift announced in June from Connecticut Children’s Foundation board member Joyce Lagnese.
Both donations come as the health system continues to build financial support for its long-term growth strategy after receiving a record-setting commitment for a $50 million gift last year from philanthropist Tom Golisano, which coincided with Connecticut Children’s joining the Golisano Children’s Alliance, a national collaborative of pediatric hospitals.
Frank Ferrucci is president of North Haven-based F+F Mechanical Enterprises and serves on Connecticut Children’s Corporate Board of Directors. His family and the company have been longtime supporters of the hospital through sponsorships of its annual Superhero Sunday fundraising event and Connecticut Children’s Foundation Gala.
According to the health system, F+F Mechanical employees also comprise the largest corporate team participating in the annual Superhero Sunday 5K fundraiser.
Located on the clinical tower’s street-level floor near the café, the Ferrucci Family Wellness Room is intended as a private space where patients, families and employees can take a break, nurse infants, check glucose levels, take medications or simply recharge, the hospital said.
