CT builders discuss transit-oriented development

The Connecticut Building Congress is looking into locations along the New Haven-Hartford-Springfield corridor for transit-oriented development sites.

CBC members on Tuesday discussed the new possibilities at the renovated Meriden public library, now the Augusta Curtis Cultural Center, which is a half mile from the Meriden train station.

Transit-oriented development projects put high density around train stations and other transit hubs to encourage urban growth. Connecticut has a couple of proposals for transit-oriented sites, notably Stamford and Windsor Locks.

Experts from Manchester design firm Fuss & O’Neill, the Capitol Region Council of Government, Meriden, and Windsor Locks discussed the philosophy and possibilities for sites through Interstate 91 corridor.
