Several banks in Connecticut are offering special loan programs to businesses and individuals impacted by Hurricane Irene, which churned up the East Coast last weekend leaving behind extensive power outages and flood damage.
Waterbury-based Webster Bank is offering low-interest loans and other services to customers and homeowners in Connecticut, New York, Rhode Island and Massachusetts affected by the storm.
The aid plan includes rates 1.5 percentage points below the regular rate on new home improvement loans and a temporary fee waiver for use of non-Webster ATMs from last Saturday through Wednesday.
Wells Fargo Bank is offering similar aid to its customers in Connecticut.
Meanwhile, Citizens Bank announced Thursday it will offer a myriad of products to individuals, small businesses and nonprofit organizations affected by Hurricane Irene including $10,000 unsecured emergency loans and  a 0 percent interest credit card for six months.
