CT bank names new president as leadership transition begins

Dime Bank on Wednesday announced that Nicholas J. Statoulas has become its 14th president in the institution’s 156-year history.

Statoulas, of Glastonbury, previously served as executive vice president and chief operating officer. He joined Dime in 2018 after nearly three decades in community banking, including leadership roles at Rockville Bank and United Bank.

He succeeds Nick Caplanson, who is retiring as president but will remain CEO until the end of the year. Statoulas will assume the CEO position on Jan. 1, when Caplanson transitions to chairman of the board.

Dime Bank originally announced the leadership transition plans in February.
