CT bank eyes New York expansion

A Connecticut bank with two locations in lower Fairfield County plans to open a third location in New York.

DR Bank has filed an application with the Connecticut Department of Banking to open a new branch in White Plains. If approved, it would be located on the fourth floor of an office building at 199 Main St.

The proposed opening date for the New York branch is June 1.

DR Bank’s two branches are located at its headquarters at 1001 Boston Post Road, in Darien, and in a commercial building at 138 Rowayton Ave., in the Rowayton section of Norwalk.

DR Bank was founded in 2006 as Darien Rowayton Bank. It reportedly changed its name to Laurel Road Bank in early 2018 and then assumed the name DR Bank in late 2019, after selling its Laurel Road digital banking division to Key Bank.

The bank has $838.8 million in assets and 79 employees, according to FDIC data.
