Stamford-based First County Bank said its new CEO has officially taken over.
Nitin J. Mhatre assumed the role April 15, succeeding Robert J. Granata, who will remain chairman through July 31, before continuing as a member of the bank’s board of directors.
The
leadership change had been previously announced. Mhatre brings more than 30 years of banking experience in U.S. and international markets. He most recently served as president and CEO of Berkshire Bank, where he led strategic and digital initiatives.
First County Bank said its board selected Mhatre following a search process, citing his leadership experience and alignment with the bank’s mission.
Mhatre holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering and an MBA from Bombay University and completed Harvard Business School’s General Management Program. He has also served in leadership roles with the Consumer Bankers Association and on nonprofit boards.
First County Bank, a mutual community bank founded 175 years ago, has 13 branches in Fairfield County, about 200 employees and more than $2.3 billion in assets.
