CT auto show flees Hartford for Mohegan Sun

Mohegan Sun’s new convention center will score a major victory this week as it hosts the Connecticut International Auto Show, which previously took place in downtown Hartford’s Connecticut Convention Center.

It wasn’t immediately clear why the event changed venues, but it’s another sign of the increased competition Hartford faces in attracting conventions and entertainment performances. MGM’s new $960 million Springfield casino is also expected to cause further headaches.

The auto show lasts from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at Mohegan’s new $80 million Earth Expo & Convention Center. Sunday’s show will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The event is slated to showcase over 100 new 2019 models from 31 manufacturers of imported and domestic vehicles including cars, vans, crossovers, hybrids, light trucks and sport utilities. Thousands are expected to attend, a spokeswoman said Tuesday.
