A Stamford-based company that makes vehicle infotainment and audio systems has sold its digital software division to an Indian IT services firm.
Harman announced it has divested its Digital Transformation Solutions (DTS) business to Wipro Ltd., an IT services firm headquartered in Bengalaru, India.
Harman said the sale allows the company to focus on strengthening its core automotive and lifestyle businesses.
Financial terms of the deal, which includes Harman entering into a multi-year strategic agreement with Wipro and Samsung, were not disclosed.
Harman — whose brands include JBL, Harman Kardon, AKG, Bowers & Wilkins, Denon and Marantz — is a wholly owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. and has about 26,000 employees worldwide.
