A private-equity-backed company has acquired Old Saybrook audiobook publisher Tantor Media, the two announced.
The buyer is Maryland’s Recorded Books, which bills itself as the largest independent audiobook publisher in the country. The deal grows Recorded Books’ catalog of book titles to more than 22,000.
Financial details of the all-cash transaction, which closed Dec. 31, were not disclosed.
Tantor was founded in California in 2000 before moving to Old Saybrook.
