The Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection arrested a 22-year-old Bristol charging him with illegal fishing.
The arrest stemmed from a complaint concerning illegal fishing activity in Long Island Sound off of Waterford.
DEEP’s environmental conservation police found Jose Medina with several fish in a cooler on his boat’s deck along with fishing equipment, even though his fishing license was under suspension until Sept. 30. Also, his boat was not legally registered, the driver license was suspended, and the truck he was driving had an expired registration.
In addition to fishing without a license, Medina also was charged with possessing more bluefish than the legal limit, possessing immature blackfish out of season, and possessing a striped bass under the legal limit.
