Central Connecticut’s housing market continued to signal soft sales ahead, despite an increase in the number of houses sold in June, The Greater Hartford Association of Realtors says.
Single-family unit sales rose 14 percent to 1,091 from 957 in June a year ago.
Pending sales fell 27.4 percent to 745 from 1,026 to 745 in the same period, the Realtors said.
The median sale price, however, increased 2.1 percent to $240,000 from $235,000.
Condo sales and prices also rose in June from a year earlier, the group said.
“Even though the closed sales numbers are strong in both single family homes and the condo market, we are still seeing fallout in pending sales from the expiration of the tax credit,” said GHAR CEO Jeff Arakelian. “This may create lower sales activity in the following months as a result.”
