CT approves CL&P’s line upgrade

Connecticut Light & Power has the green light to build the Connecticut leg of its $714 million program to upgrade the regional power grid between the Hartford and Springfield areas.

The Connecticut Siting Council approved construction of a 12-mile overhead power lines between Bloomfield and Suffield, CL&P said Monday.

The 345-kilovolt line will link to a 23-mile stretch into Springfield, if Massachusetts power regulators sign off on the project later this year, said CL&P Project Director Kathleen Shea.

The project also includes related 115-kilovolt transmission system upgrades.
