CT apprenticeship training program goes online

The state of Connecticut has launched a new system to help businesses streamline the management of apprenticeship programs.

The e-Apprenticeship system brings online the state Department of Labor’s Registered Apprenticeship Training Program.

It will allow sponsor employers to register new apprentices, update information on their registered apprentices, and pay program fees online. Apprentices will also be able to use the system to track their progress.

The department says currently there are more than 7,000 registered apprentices working for approximately 1,800 employers within more than 50 industries in Connecticut.

“Registered apprenticeships are a great way for employers to train and build their workforce, and for workers to receive on-the-job training and master a trade that will benefit them throughout their careers,” Gov. Ned Lamont said. “Bringing this program online with the e-Apprenticeship system will make it even easier for businesses and workers to participate.”

“As demand for highly skilled workers increases, pre-apprenticeship and registered apprenticeship strategies have proven very successful in meeting both employer and industry need in training, acquiring, and retaining employees,” said Todd Berch, director of the Office of Apprenticeship Training.
