CT ABC names Torone board chair

Eugene (Gene) Torone, president of S/L/A/M Construction Services in Glastonbury, has been appointed chairman of Connecticut Associated Builders & Contractors’ (ABC) board of directors. He will serve a one-year term.

Torone has been a member of the Connecticut ABC chapter since 2012 and has previously served as vice chair of its board. He has represented the organization at national conferences and events, and served as a Connecticut delegate in Washington, D.C., promoting core ABC initiatives.

Founded in 1950, the Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC) is a national construction industry trade association representing more than 21,000 members and 69 chapters.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston has appointed two new Connecticut members to the bank’s First District Community Depository Institutions Advisory Council (CDIAC). Susan (Sue) L. Shields is president and CEO of the Milford Bank, while Brian A. Orenstein is president and CEO of Charter Oak Federal Credit Union in Waterford.

Established by the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in 2010, CDIACs in the 12 Federal Reserve districts provide a diverse perspective on the economy, lending conditions, and other issues facing thrift institutions, credit unions, and community banks with different charters and regulators including state member, state non-member and national banks.
