CT 13th most expensive place to get married

A new survey by a wedding industry publication pegs Connecticut as the 13th most expensive market for couples to conduct a wedding.

The Knot annual survey found the average wedding costs $41,692 in Connecticut. The national average is $32,641.

Connecticut is not the most expensive place to get married in New England. That distinction goes to weddings in Cape Cod. According to The Knot, the average cost of a wedding there is $54,434, which makes it sixth most expensive overall.

The most expensive place to get married is in Manhattan with an average spend of $82,299. The least expensive is Alaska with an average spend of $17,361.

The average wedding cost nationally has increased by more than $5,500 in the past five years. This year, the total wedding cost is being driven up by specific categories: reception venue (+$1,950), ceremony site (+$652) and reception band (+$545) saw the largest cost increases (compared to 2009).
